My ebay header installation experience...

Wink My ebay header installation experience...

I started installing them today at 10AM... whole process took around 8 hours, counting a 2 hour lunch + beers and tons of breaks

Headers + reducers + clamps + etc

Coil pack + Manifolds out:


First fitment test failed, K-member in the way:


I payed $40 to a guy to remove the emission tubes since ebay headers don't come in race version. He did an amazing job...




Back to the car, fixing the k-member so they'll fit. I had to remove about 1/4 of an inch:



Woohoo... that was eeeasy, perfect fit:


Passenger slids right in... amazing

My friend's turbo mustang... just for giggles:

As you can see the only fitment problem I found was with the k-member. I had to remove about 1/4 of an inch. The collectors don't touch any part of the car. Not even close. Installing spark plugs was great too... all from the top (with the passenger coil pack removed). MSD cables are not touching any part of the headers althought the front passenger side wire is very close. Vette O2 sensors are pretty long, but since I had to replace my O2 sensores anyways I saved some $$ with not buying any extensions. After driving my car with open headers (plus no rear O2 sensores and no AIR) for 15 minutes SES light hasn't turned on yet I guess the PCM is on a break today

I'll be installing the rest of the exhaust this week (true duals) and heading to the dyno on the 31st. I'll let you guys know my results.

Nice job, that lift in your garage sure makes things easier, don't it ! One thing you might want to change is how you tie wrapped the o2 wires . Instead of having the wires bent back and forth and tie wrapped tight like you have it , loop the wires in a small circle and then tie wrap them up , it is less stressfull on the wires .

Also if you can, spray the underside of your car with castrol super clean and rent/borrow/use a pressure washer to clean it.

I was going to do it that way but the instructions that come with the O2 sensors even came with a diagram telling you to wrap them that way



I have no idea why but I decided to go with their method...

Grinding to make a set of headers fit a car is total BS. But it looks like you managed just fine. I didn't see any pictures of you changing out the engine mounts while the headers were off. You may regret that later on
