My A4 Stalled?

I have a 99 Z28 and was driving on the highway about 55 mph .... when my car just completely shut off ... no check-lights came on prior ....i just saw my tach hit 0 , same as my spedometer. I checked to see if I mighteve hit my keys to turn off the car.. nope ... still was in the on position. So my power steering goes out.. and was out in the inner lane.... so i pull over to the shoulder get out and visually check over my car... and couldnt find anything wrong with it ... i go back inside the car to find that my instrument panel was back on ... and the lights all lit up... i started it...and drove home.... im baffled by it ... anyone know what the hell happened??!?!?

When that happened to me it ended up I had a loose battery terminal. Could also be your alternator.

It was a battery terminal for me, too. Could also be an alternator. When was the last time you changed the belts on it. Same with the Battery.

Would the alternator just cut out like that?

*shut off without no warning
- no battery light
-volts were fine on the voltmeter

*The batter is still holding a charge
-no signs of corrosion
-all cables were tight

*Belt hasnt been changed (and probably should be soon)

But belt was still on the car and on all the necessary pullies, and wouldnt cause the car to shut off right away.

Ignition problem inside the car? Ive drove it for about an 1 hour or so late last night ... and didnt happen again ...

luckily I decided to push a yellow light to get away from a pack of cars, or else it woulda been hell to get over onto the shoulder

The only time i have seen this is when UFO's are close by, but usually the radio goes all crazy first.

Happened to my friends Suburban. Both with me and my friend, the gauges swept to the left before the power went out.

Probably time to take your car to the dealer or a mechanic.

My radio was off when it happened to me and my @$$ was sore the next day, so this is something we should definitely consider.
