If you have Windows, look in your menus (usually under Accessories->Entertainment) for Sound Recorder. It'll use your laptop's mic to record stuff. Hit the big red button, jump into the car, do what you wanna do and hit the stop button. Then you can save it to a file to share with people.
ill try that thanks a bunch

from everything i've read about them..... (havent heard the this one though) the corsa always seemed to be associated with "exotic"

if you search and just read tons and tons of similar threads (though i'm not opposed to new questions so much) you can gradually get a sense of what exhausts are associated with what descriptions

i've gathered finally that magnaflow is not obnoxiously loud but very deep and muscle carish, thats what i'm after

borla is downright loud with the open setting (its basicly a cutout)

and i always hear "exotic" and "highly refined" with corsa, occasionally 'sports carish' but not as much

have heard about the tri-flow so much, search though and just read lots and lots of threads, sound clips are mildly useful, hearing it in person is best

From what you are saying, it sounds like maybe a stock LT1 exhaust with no cat would do the trick. You aren't gonna flow well, and if you got to worry about emissions forget it, but that may actually do the trick.

I think you are going for the "Ferrari" sound? If so, then good luck matching it perfectly, but there are ways to get close. I think Borla will be too throaty for you, although it does have a refined sound like 2000LS1Z28 was mentioning. Hopefully you will find what you are looking for. B&B's site isn't working right right now or something, but check later maybe for sounds samples. (Main Sounds Page... - 2002 F-Body V8 Page) Good luck.

Obviously Corsa isn't the sound you are looking for??? That clip is an LS1 SS...

Man that C5 system is out of this world. Too bad you can't get the Corsa mufflers standalone, that is truly a unique setup, has a nice raspy sound to it, in a werid exotica kinda way.

I think a true dual exhaust setup with an x pipe and those Corsa mufflers would get the sound your looking for.

I'm always kinda torn between that high end pitch sound and that low end grunt sound of a C5R.

This... is hands down the best LS1 exhaust ever.

Larnach is right IMO, by looking at the exhaust.I doesnt say what the intermediates size are(you'd have to be same size) add the resonators they have on each"I"pipe. And those muffs(that'd be some work) or suitable bullets with same tech. and the 4" beveled in tips...and most of all some engine work LS6 build?
And you'd be close...that was prob. the Z06 in the demo...BTW I like your taste Dave I would not be embarassed with that at all especially on my Vette you can tell there some pretty good power behind that sound good luck
Also I got Magnaflow I like it,Borla kick @ss too.

I am throwing in a vote for GMMG. It has its own greatly refined sound like no other. It has a great rumble like a V8 should and no rasp like borla, loudmouth, flowmaster and so on. This is in my opinion the best sounding exhaust for the LS1!

I guess I have to throw in my $ .02 hear.. Check out the Dynomouth... No rasp compared to Loudmouth and Corsa, but a smooth rumble and it screams @ 3K RPMs and Up.. checkout ratio411's DM Howto Page and check out the soundclips.. Those will give you a basis of what you can expect for sound..

I did the DM and I love it, except I used the 18" muffler instead of the 12" because I wanted a mellower sound and I am going to add headers later on as well...

V8s are always going to sound a little beefy, you should have bought a 4/6/10/12 if you wanted an "exotic" sounding car. The Vette clips do sound kind of, high pitched, that driveby (4) sounds like an Indy racer, I'll take one please.

That Corsa definitely sounds like a Ferrari. What about sound vs. flow? Which would produce the best flow (most power) and give you that sound? Would you all still lean toward the Borla or the Loudmouth?

If you want flow, buy a muffler that will allow single in/out or a non-cross flow design muffler. SLP2OTL would qualify, and it actually sounds kind of nice.

Despite all this, I'm sure the difference is rather minor until you start making "big" power, in which case your going to uncap at the track anyway.

question

Hey JoshuaH82 that link you posted of the magnaflow, was it the full catback or just the muffler? And did that Z have headers or what? I really liked that sound. Please post for me or if anyone else knows. Thanks
