More low end torque out of an LS1
Does anyone know how to get the tourque at lower RPM"S in an LS1? I love every aspect about LS1's except that LT1's feel so much stronger when your just driving around town. I know that stock LT1's only put out 325 Lbs of torque @ 2400 RPM's and LS1's put out 335 Lbs of torque @ 4400 RPM's. Is ther a way to drop the max torque of an LS1 down about 1000 - 2000 RPM's or do you have to modify the crap out of your car to make it fell like you have the torque at lower RPM's???
It seems to me that its the heads on the LS1 as to why the peak torque is so much higher in the band. You may be able to change to a special grind cam to help alittle. To me though, the LS1's has close to the same amount of low end torque. Its just that the LS1 has a ton more power up high it seems like it missing the power down low. I don't know what to tell you.

The LS1's put out a pretty flat power band on the torque side. I have seen dynos where it is around 275 at 2500 RPM. I think you just have so much added power up top, compared to down low you may think something is missing, but there isn't. I think it may all be in the head.

Well what year is your car? The 2001 and 2002 models have more torque because of the torquier cam. Believe me, no matter what year you have, you have enough torque. If you have an automatic, get a torque converter, that will make it feel like you added 50 or so foot lbs of torque
When I had my LS1 dynoed it is putting out 300 TQ at just 2k rpm but below 2500k rpm the car feels weak. The weird thing is this is just around town that the car feels weak at lower rpm's. Past 80 mph the car feels ok at 2k. I only have 3500 miles on her. I believe the gearing leaves a lot to be desired.
