Mods that will improve MPG???

Hey all,
Just wondering, what mods will not only improve power, but MPG as well. I'm looking at purchasing my 5th f-body, V8 of course, and use it to drive 70 miles to work and back daily. I'm tired of driving my wifes Pacifica!!! But with the gas prices as they are, any help in the MPG area is helpfull.
Thanks!

Mods to both the intake and exhaust will/should improve your fuel economy.

Complete tune up. New plugs, wires, air cleaner, oil change, O2 sensors if high milage. If the check engine light is on, fix what's wrong. Put a bottle of Chevron Techron fuel injection cleaner in your next fillup. Make sure the tires are properly inflated. Synthetic gear oil in the differential. Lots of little things, but they all add up.

PCM tune. Alignment, re balance the tires after they wear for 10-15k.

Driver mod should be at the top of your list. The lighter you can make your right foot, the better. Easy as possible when accelerating, combine errands into one trip and plan them out so you're not driving across town multiple times, etc., etc...

Just FYI, on highway cruises, i've been able to squeeze 28-29mpg out of my A4 LS1.

That's great, but what rear gears do you have?

I have an MPG mods question......it's said that the TB bypass mod will release a few ponies at the expense of some MPGs. If I get rid of my TB bypass mod and set it up like stock again, is it possible to squeeze out another 1-2 mpg?

No. I'm a believer in that the tb bypass gives you a pony or two, but I'm skeptical if the tb bypass even makes a difference with mileage. Even it it did, I would expect an improvement < 0.5 mpg.

I guess there's only one way to find out. I'll set it back to stock and drive for a few tanks and see......

This is good advice but there's more that a driver can do. Brake conservitativley and early. If you look a block down the road and the light is red or you see brake lights, let off of the go pedal and coast, most modern drivers will stay on the gas then use their brakes to stop at the last possible minute. Well every second that the throttle blade is cracked open that it could be closed is wasted gas.
Depending upon your driving style you could gain a mpg just with this method.

Thanks for all the info. I was wondering, if the motor is getting air in and out better, such as in the case with lowering restrictions on the intake and exhaust side, then won't the ECM add more fuel to fatten the mix? Or is that only the case when you get on it?

Like above mentioned, having a lighter foot makes a differance in MPG. I remember working at Autozone, everyone would come in looking for those tornado fuel savers (what a gimmick that is) and i would simply tell them, don't floor it and stay under 60mph.

Use your A/C sparingly...that KILL's your gas mileage.
