Talking Make my Car Fast as Possible w/ this Budget

This summer I am going to be working for my dad. At the rates he's paying my, I can make a minimum of about $4000. Now, I want all of this to go to my car and make it badass. I'm thinking I could blow it all on heads, headers, and a y-pipe , but I'm thinking maybe other parts could give more power. I will have a lid by this summer, and whatever else I put in my sig. I don't want nitrous so thats out of the question. I mostly want engine parts. Any suggestions would be great

Honest answer? Invest 1/2 the money and blow the other half. That way you get instant gratification, plus you get the added benefit of having money down the road.Trust me,there are ALWAYS people out there with more $$ who will out-spend you to be fast.Plus, your car is already "bad-***".Just some advice from an "old guy".

I would do all the basics before I went straight for heads. You need to get more air in and out for the heads to be very useful. Get a lid, ported tb, ls6 intake, headers, cutout.. and you might as well do some suspension work or you will never hook up well. SFCs, LCAs, STB, panhard, TQ arm.. etc.

Like said I would invest half of it, that's a real good idea.

Take the other half and spend it.

Headers and the works will run you about $1000.
LS6 intake, underdrive pullies, and definatly some suspension work - infact, I'd do most of the suspension work first.

I kinda like bbentley idea, cept for the cutout, and Kev has a good point you need some cash left over for the ladies dude
Oh I remember workin with Dad...lol.I make 4K a month now,he was a Cheap Sob.I say see if you can get him to buy you the parts in lieu of the work you will do for him thats instant gratification.
I'm going to do my top end first also and heads, cam, intake and headers are what I want to do.Just cant find the best to put in.Wanna do it right the first time know what I mean?
I still cant determine the best(powerwise) that will satisfy CA. emissions.
I want the FLPs or Macs'(CA?) some stage 2 heads(CA?),best power cam(CA?) and the LS6 intake.Spec 3 clutch/Alum.Flywheel and the get you hooked pats which will be first btw
I like the FLPs interchangable OR & Cat. "Y" pipe but as for CA legal?

heads/cam ls6 intake....that will run about 3500 range and with the 700 get subframe connectors and lower control arms with relocation brackets and drop springs.....and if u get a little more cash get a torque arm and a adj panhard bar...

Unhappy Don't forget youre in California (CARB)

I would wait on heads and cam packages for the moment. I assume you will be driving your car on the street. While i've heard there are cams and heads that are smog legal in California. Their gains may not be worth the price.

I would start with a K&N FIPK (CA legal) and a cat-back (also CA legal). These will give you the most gains for the money. A larger MAF and throttle body has had mixed results.

These two mods will probably cost less that $1000. With the remaining money get yourself some 17" rims and tires. Then build up the suspension as mentioned before. You'll have fun carving up the roads in your local foothills, like on the way to Folsom Lake or Tahoe!

I know its frustrating reading about all these head and cam packages as well as long tube headers (not CA legal). But remember all of your neighbors are subject to the same restrictions.

BTW Does anyone know of a head and cam package that IS CARB certified? If so please let us know.

I was thinking of mentioning that. A blower is one of the easiest ways to bolt on 150 hp. HOWEVER, you might want to do some reasearch on how well an engine holds up when superchargered. And did any one mention the price

it will hold up...it depends how much boost you run tho...

my buddy has twin turbo on a bolt on ls1 and he is boosting 9lbs and it is fine

Screw saving the money...

you're young..enjoy it now, when you can. Later on, you'll have more than enough $$$..but the enjoyment and desire won't be as high...
