magnaflow+no cats

I am looking to eliminate my o2 problems by yanking the cats and getting o2 simms, but I remember how god awful that sounded on my Lt1 Z... How does that setup sound with magnaflow? should I go with off-road pipes or get a bullet muffler put on the I-pipe? I really don't want the raspy-ness my last car had!!!

With gutted cats, SLP y-pipe, and a Magna flos catback.

It had that hollow sound at lower rpm's and I didn't see any gain at the track?

But, if you look in Summit they have an offroad y-pipe that goes straight to the manifolds or you could have one make.

I think the problem with the sound is the air going threw the empty cat's.

Good Luck.

If you run off-road pipes through a Magnaflow, it will be raspy and tinny sounding in the mid rpms where you do a lot of your cruising.

BTW, any aftermarket cat-back or replacement muffler will sound raspy without cats on an LS1. Some just sound worse with ORP'S than others.

LS1's actually sound worse without cats than LT1's do IMO.

Only a "true dual" exhaust set-up won't be raspy/tinny when yanking off the cats...

I have FLP LT's, race pipes, & the Magnaflow catback. It sounds badass. I have no clue what it would sound like without LT's.

You wouldn't happen to have a part # or the name of the maker???
