Angry MAF & SES, my arch enemies

I just Installed a new MAF, and of course, the stupid SES light has to come on. Now I realize that this is a common problem. I reset my computer a bunch of times and ran the codes and they come back that both banks are running lean. I'll reset the computer and about 10 miles later.. the light will pop back on. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice as to what I should do. I don't feel like putting on the old MAF because I didn't buy this new one for nothing. When the light is on... does that mean the car is REALLY runnign lean or is it just THINKING that its runnign lean? The car doesn't feel like its losing any power, so is the SES light all show or is the engine losing HP without me knowing?? Thanks everyone!

What kind of MAF did you buy? I purchased a Granatelli MAF sensor and haven't had a problem with it in the 2 years its been installed. They tuned it to richen up the fuel curve slightly so I wouldn't get a SES light. You can see what they have to say about it near the bottom of this page:

Look for "When do I need cold air tuning?"

I've been having the same problem with mine recently... I didn't just buy a new MAF, I ported and polished the stock. It was fine for about 3 weeks.... now tht SAS light comes on intermittently... it'll be on for a few starts and then go off again for a while. I wonder if the computer can just adjust over time and eventually it won't come on anymore?
