Smile Mac's vs. JetHot headers

I'm having a hard time choosing one

JetHot's are nice, but the y-pipe issue.

Mac's are nice too and the y-pipe works, but how much less HP?

If Chris from JetHot can get a Mac GP going, that might make it easier.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
Andrew

On a stock internal car the difference is minimal. I went with the longtubes because I was planning on doing more, and the price was sinilar. If you want to stay emissions legal easily, do the Mac's. Jet-Hot's would require a custom made Y with cats to remain legal.

Thanks, I don't need the cats.

I'm wondering how much better they flow over the stock '02 manifolds and cats.

I seem to be doing just as good, as the people down here with Mac's OR y-pipe and JetHot's with true dual?

The cats sold by mac have been shown to actually flow worse than stock. Also, mac headers sound like butt compared to a true full length header, you have to do the collector mod to make anywhere near the same power. True duals will get you nothing but lack of ground clearance and maybe a little better sound.. no performance gain. Your stock 02 manifolds flow about as good as a short header already, so going to a midlength is a waste of your time. As far as the y-pipe i've not heard of any problems with the hooker y-pipe what have you heard?

My Hooker Y tucked up very tight to the car. It didn't hang any lower than my 2.5 in SLP Y. I am running 2.5 in duals now, and lost a very small amount of clearance. I felt a SOTP improvement over the Y and Loudmouth, and the sound is incredible.

If you're saying that you could feel the difference between true duals and a y-pipe loud mouth setup you're lying through your teeth or hallucinating. The difference is MAYBE 5hp and that is a VERY big maybe. Show me dyno slips don't make ridiculous claims like this.

I could be hallucinating, but to me she felt stouter out of the hole than with the other setup. Computer may have jumped the timing to compensate for the A/F. I am just saying how it felt.

Remember a lot of times with modding cars its 50% mental. Even though youhave done something that only pops out an extra 5-10hp, you swear you can feel it on the butt dyno, but in all reality your not feeling anything different. Its just your mind telling you that you do because you want to see and feel the fruits of your labor. I used to catch myself doing that all the time. Just like ants; have you ever found an ant crawling on your arm, and then suddenly it felt likethey were all over you, but they werent? The mind can f*ck with you sometimes.

My friend, just put them on his '02 WS-6 and had a very hard time with the y-pipe installing and rubbing !!!

So, now he has true duals ( Dyno Max bullets ) and his car is way to loud for me

What kind of mufflers did you go with?

I might just go true duals, I'm not sure yet

Thanks

JetHot has been doing a GP on Macs for the past couple weeks. Where you been?

Unfortunately the 01-02's with ORY are on back order or I'd have a set right now for less than $800 with all hardware.
