M6 launchers- What gear do you guy's end up with at the 1/4.

With the 3.42, I was able to keep it in 3rd if I wanted too. I bumped the rev limiter up to 6300 and if I stayed in 3rd, I would "kiss" the rev limiter about the same time the win light came on.

But, I would suggest going into 4th.
You're thinking the car will be quicker/trap higher if you hold it in 3rd, avoiding the 3rd shift, right?
Not a good idea. You want to shift to 4th..and you'll have to unless you have a 6500 rpm rev limit. With the stock cam, you would be too far above the power peak at that rpm. Shifting to 4th gets you right up on the power peak through the traps. When I would run mine, I would shift at 6K and I want to say I hit 4th gear around the 1000' mark.
You should try it at the track just to convince yourself, though. Just be safe and don't over-rev the engine..those valves will float and those pushrods will bend.

I have always had to go to fourth in fourthgens. You might squak through in third, but I don't think it will be any faster. The limiter is bumped on my T/A to 6600, so I though about running it through since it would run 113 in third. Well, I hit the limiter about 10' before the first trap box, bounced all the way through for a 12.7@112.96. I started shirting to fourth and ran a string of 12.6's at 114, and it was a lot easier on the car.
