M6 or A4... which one to choose
alright, i <3 stick... and im going to get my camaro soon... just waiting for a good deal to pass me up on a 98-02 ss M6... but this car is going to be my daily driver and im going to mod the hell out of it, and eventually i'll get another car as my camaro becomes more of a drag car and less of a daily driver... but this retard i know was telling me to get an A4 because it launches better than a M6... which is true, but i'd want to stay with an M6 though cuz i'll end up catching up.
i wanted to know you're opinion on this matter... what would be better on the track, and M6 or an A4... head to head, w/ the same mods, which would finish first... and yea, basicly what car is better for track use... thanks guys

Well i would pick the A4 because it DOES launch better, easier in stop and go traffic, dont have to go through that annoying skip to 4th crap, all you have to do is just bring the rpms to 1200 and go! I would like an M6, which will probably be my next car, but its just easier with the A4. Not to mention that the 4L60 is one of the best automatic transmissions out there.

yeah, i love stick dude, thats what i plan on getting... i just wanna see what you ppl think and what you guys have to say so i can make my choice. i mean... i dont think i could drive an automatic... i love playing with the gears man, it's more fun driving stick for me, cuz i can control everything. only thing is that a4's launch better off the line... and like i said, eventually this car would be an all out drag car within the next 5 years, lol
ahh... i seriously cant see myself driving an A4... where's the fun in that dude? lol

However, this is back to the old M6>A4 debate that goes on all the time around here, and you'll always get the same response, that the A4 will launch better and run more consistent at the track ('cause it's true) but for ~95% of your driving, the M6 will be more fun.

My friend and I both have '99 Z28s, he has a M6 and mine's an A4.
I'll tell you first hand that his car is a blast to drive, but mine is more practical for everyday use. Performance is almost the same. My car is stock and he has a Whisper Lid and a Flowmaster.
I'll bet your car ins. will be a little bit higher with an M6.

I have never, ever been asked if the car I was putting insurance on was as stick or an auto.
Insurance is higher on red cars too, right?

As far as the practicality issue... well, I'd say an auto is really only more practical if you drive in heavy urban traffic regularly.
