LT1 LS1 swap

I am seriously considering swapping out my Lt1 for an Ls1 and I have a few questions regarding this swap. Here are my questions: 1. will my transmission bolt up to an ls1?
2. will the a/c and power steering hook up to an ls1?
3. how much will a wiring harness cost?
4. am i delving into something that I will regret later?
Thanks for the help, Jason.

from my past experience, just go ahead and buy a wrecked donor car and transfer EVERYTHING into your LT1 car. makes for less headaches.

All f-body's from 94-2002 have the same transmissions. That won't be a prob. Like Jerm said, check out a junk yard for the CPU and wiring. Try Trans-Am Creations. This shop in South Florida has every f-body part you can think of. Call and they'll probably be able to help you out with any questions and pricing.

The Ls1 trannys are different. I would just sell the LT1 and find yourself a LS1 car, there not going for very much...alot less headaches

Actually, now that you mention it, that's why the converters are different for both cars. What's the difference though?

if you want to run an LS1 t56 on an LT1 engine, youll need to put an LT1 input shaft in the trans.

if you want to run an LT1 t56 on an LS1 engine, youll need to put an LS1 input shaft in the trans.

.....which basically means taking the entire trans apart and switching lots of internal stuff around.

Would it be a whole lot cheeper to use the tranny I already have and just change what needs to be changed or is it going to end up costing me just as much as a new one?

sell yours as a used tranny, and buy the tranny you need used. prolly only cost you $100 or some junk once its said and done.

basically an even trade, in other words. *just about. the LS1 trans will be newer, so it will be worth more.

Wow, man...just sell you car and get an LS1, you will save a lot of money in the long run....if you have that money, why not mod your LT1? It doesnt take much...
