lt1 guy with a question

i own an lt1, i was wonderin if one of you ls1 owners could tell me if the 2 air scoop things on the front fenders is actualy functional (is used to cool down brakes right?)
also if you have any idea if i can put them on a lt1 body
(talkin about firebirds/trans ams btw)

i dunno if they are functional, but i know you can take an ls1 front end and put it on an lt1 car. i have seen it done.

NON functional.

They're not functional because there's a piece of hard foam rubber behind each nostril. I have seen guys take out the foam, put a long rubber pipe behind each one and make the end of the pipe go to the air inlet on our intakes. I guess this will give the guy a real ram air system.

He's talking about the brake ports on the Firebird/Tranams.

But for the record, the grill on the Camaro is not only functional, it is how it gets fresh air to the air box. That hard foam rubber behind the grill is a splash plate that directs the air up through a hole in the bumper, then along the bottom of the hood directly into the airbox ...

People how conncet hoses to the grill are getting no more air than they were before ... they just rerouted it ...

so the brake ports are non functional?
those are what i was talkin about.
