Lsi Throttle Cable Failure

This is a head's up to check the throttle cable sheathing connection where it mounts to the intake manifold bracket, because mine came loose last week while I was driving resulting in a total loss of power. I was lucky to be on a quiet street where I could temporarily repair the cable with a shoe lace so I could get the car home.

I drilled the plastic piece affixed to the cable and attached it to the bracket with a machine screw. I've also fitted a tie-wrap around the unit for added safety. The routing of the throttle cable places a side load on this piece which causes it to fail over time, and the WOT events probably don't help. If this had happened the day before while driving up a mountain near my home the result could have been very bad.

Mine did this back in `99 when it was about a year old.
I used a Zip Tie to fix it and it's still there. Never had a problem since.
