sounds like a bogus ad

i think the 345hp option was only available on the 02 SS and WS6 (possibly formula).

and i think that was just a better lid and exhaust

When will everyone realize that the factory ratings for these cars don't mean anything?

SLP had different trim levels on the SS. For 2002 it was 335HP (SLP catback) or 345HP (SLP catback + Donaldson Blackwing Lid). The SLP Firehawk only came in 345HP trim.

It does mean something to someone looking to buy a 2002 SS or selling one for that matter if it came with the 345hp package, sure it may not be the accurate hp for the car but it is an option, jackass

correct.

but all of our 98-00 LS1's are 345hp, 01-02 LS1's 350hp, the factory ratings are badly under rated and people believe them

Really? Last I checked, the car in question was a 2000. Is it still an option?

No need for name calling. I didn't single out anybody, flame anybody, or call anyone anything. However, the fact of the matter is that the ratings still mean nothing, yet people still go by and talk about them like they do. If that package "means something" to somebody, they need to educate themselves since, once again, it means nothing.

Ok no big deal. Lets just end this now. No reason to start a drawn out thing. The guy must be confused as to what came on his car. The dealer probably told him it had "The boost package"

Factory ratings are kind of a joke, but the difference in factory ratings usually signifies that the one car has something the other one doesn't, such as better exhaust or a lid.

As for the original question, it is false, the 345hp package was a SS option and not offered in 2000.

Exactly. Most LS1 owners already know about the underrated factory ratings. Going by what GM rates them at is an easy way to distinguish between different options on stock cars. So even though the stock "345HP" SS has more than that, its also a safe bet to say it's making more power than the stock "325HP" version because of the upgraded lid/exhaust combo.
