ls6 heads

I just bought a set of ported ls6 heads, I want to have them milled to bump up the compression I need to know how much i can have milled off them with out worrying about ptv clearence I dont want to cut the pistons. I have the trex cam .609/.612 lift.

i dont have them on my car yet, i dont know what thichness the stoch ones are

maybe a .030 alone would do you good. i think the stocks are .051

you have a ls1 correct? dont see anything for lt1. the above link is for the standard 3.9" bore but they have them for 4.0" also

I have an ls1, I wounder what that would bring my compression ratio up to? Would I Have to get shorter push rods?

best bet is to call them. good guys. i only had one minor issue with them but than that, they are very helpful. also nick and eric at vre are super knowledgable too, as are many of the vendors here.

i doubt you would need the shorter pushrods (but no promises), i didnt, even with the milled down 5.3l heads. i get piston slap at startup, but so do many others here. im ~11.1:1 im told, idk for certain

You might want to check how much your piston is out of the hole before ordering head gaskets. I can't remember what is the minimum for a quench pad.

Thats a Thunder cam so I'd call them and ask instead of wanting someone I have no idea who they are telling me.

that cam will clear with STOCK valves and STOCK head gaskets with no milling.

Not sure how much you could mill before P/V contact. Thinner head gaskets and larger valves will require fly cutting the pistons.

You probably can't mill much if any at all especially if they have non-stock valves in them.
