ls6 block

ls6 block

hey guys, i was wondering how i find out whether i have the ls1 or the ls6 block... i have a 2002 camaro z28 35th anniv. built in 4-02, anyone know where to find out like casting numbers, tag on the block or whatnot... thanks guys

To quote an article, "To confirm if your 2001-2002 F-body has an LS6 block, grab a mirror and a flashlight. Open the hood and head over to the drivers side to try and see the back of the left-hand deck, above the transmission flange. A cast-in 12561168 denotes the LS6 block.

is this on a paper tag on the back of the head? cuz the number i found is 21050006 thanks for the help guys.

You basically have to get under the car to see the casting number. It is molded into the block right above the tranny flange, below the head. You can also look in front of the passenger side head, where the block sticks out about a inch from the head. If it is smooth and flat it is a LS-6. If it has 2 circle looking casting things in it, it is LS-1.
