93-97 f-body got LT1
98-02 f-body got LS1
97- vette got LS1
93-95 f-body V6 got the 3.4
late 95-97 f-body V6 got the 3.8
98-02 f-body V6 got the 3800 II (3.8)

the LT1 cars have a little more low end torque, but the big horsepower and torque of the LS1 makes it a much better motor. the LS1 gets great mileage compared to the LT1 too.

look at the trap speeds between the two, you can tell that the LS1 has lots of horsepower. 90+ for the LT1 to 100+ mph on the LS1.

I believe the 95-97 V6's were the same series II motor used in the 98+ cars

Uh oh...........now you've done it. This is gonna get ugly. Did you just say the LT1 has more low end torque than the LS1?! That's debatable.....and has been debated several times! Let's just say "for argument's sake" that they're roughly the same low end, but the LS1 out-performs the LT1 overall.

SSkid: yep, the LS1's came in F-bodies from '98 up.

Thats what i thought but...

See thats what i thought but the guy that i bought the car from told me that it had a LT1 in it and i was like im pretty sure that its a LS1, but then again he only bought the car bc of a midlife crisis ....So that could explain alot too

the 98 V6 is a different set up, it has a different intake, injectors, etc, etc.
and the LS1 does have LOADS more HP and Torque than the LT1. but at low rpm they have a little bit more torque.

but like I said, the LS1 is a seperior motor.

i was just wondering did any 98-99 camaros come with an ls1 but without any z28 decals and such. i beat a 98-99 camaro(kid) and he said his car had an lt1 but it was clearly a newer body style. his car had no emblems that said it was a z28. it also sounded like an ls1 very raspy and loud. i guess he couldnt face that he got beat by an lt1(we raced from 5-70 then he shut down).

Dont think there were any that came without decals besides the cop versions. He may have had a V6 at one pointk, but put an old LT1 in. Or he just couldve taken the decals off.

Yeah..I think it's not that the LT1 has more low end torque..rather, it's that the LS1 has more high end torque. It keeps going, and going, and going...

In all honesty, there might actually be some truth to that argument. I'm sure guys who have seen dyno sheets could verify, but take this for example:

- My '02 Z28 vs friend's '96 T/A
- both A4 w/2.73 gears, bone stock
- same track, same night
- me: 14.1 @ 100.xx
- him: 14.7 @ 96.xx
- my 60': 2.1
- his 60': 2.0..........quicker than mine?

Now don't mind those times, 'cause it was hot and humid that night............see my new best times below. BUT, he was consistently getting off the line better than me, and it was only after the 60' mark when I would catch him and pass him. SO, it leads me to believe that the LT1 is maybe making a little more torque down around ~2000 rpm?

Just something to think about.
