LS1 tranny question...

Anyone ever drop their tranny to change a clutch, slave cylinder or both? I ask because the tranny is on the floor beside the car after I attempted to change it with a few friends. We got the all the old parts off, I put the new flywheel/clutch/pressure plate/bell housing back on and we couldn't get the tranny back in. The tranny was getting stuck about 1.5 ~ 2 inches away from the bell housing. I'm at the point where I'm gonna have the flat-bed take my car to the shop and have them put it in for me. I feel bad about having to ask my friends to drop what they're doing to help me. They've already spent the weekend on it with me. It looks like the best opition is to cough up the $4XX on the master card and get the work guaranteed. Any input?

Had this trouble on a LT1.I don't know a lot about tranny's,but we were swapping the clutch in a LT1 and we had the same issue. The tranny would slide in and then it would just stop like we had hit a brick wall.Come to find out,the throw-out bearing (I think that's what it's called) was scarred up and the shaft would not go in there.Good luck!

If you didnt use a clutch alignment tool to center the disc it will never line up.
Did you?

Like LS198Z said. Rent or borrow the tool used to line up the clutch. And now would be a good time to replace that throw out bearing to.
