LS1 Tractioin Control Question

LS1 Tractioin Control Question
I don't know hardly anything about cars. OKay me and my dad were trying to spin the wheels (smoke show) on the Z28Camaro. This did not work. And it occured to us that it might be because of tractional control. Then we found that when my mom purchased the car it didn't come with the option to turn traction control off. My question is would traction control stop us from doing this, and what effect does it have on acceleration of the car, etc?

Re: LS1 Tractioin Control Question
If there is no button inside the car above the radio to turn off the traction control (ASR.....acceleration slip regulation) then the car is not equipped with traction control on it. If the car DOES have ASR, then with it turned on, if/when the rear wheels start to spin, you would feel the gas pedal kick back up at you.....it's a weird sensation.....I don't like it. BUT, I don't have ASR either, so I don't have to worry about it.
If your car doesn't have ASR, but you want to spin the tires, you can do a "brake torque", where you hold the brakes and give the car gas, and the back brakes will let go and the wheels will spin. It's not really good for the entire driveline though. Get a line-lock if you really want to do burn-outs like that. Otherwise, hang the back end out around corners, or punch it in the rain! You'll spin the wheels then!
