LS1 question

are automatic LS1 trannys 4 speed or 5 speed

just wondering because i had only heard of 4 spd but theres a guy selling a Z saying it comes with automatic 5spd

1st-3rd are "normal" and 4th is overdrive.

Unless the idiot is counting reverse as the 5th .

thanx maybe he is counting reverse, i would need to ask him because i had never heard of 5spd auto.

Nope, neither have I, at least not GM

I am surprised you haven't heard of a 5 speed auto, lots of new cars them. The Camaro is not one of them though.

GM has them in their HD trucks (3/4 & 1-ton) Allison 5 speed auto.

I think I've heard that Jag & Benz has them too.

I've even heard of a 6 speed auto, but I don't remember where or in what car.

Hell, my father-in-law is telling me they've devloped semis with auto trannys.... Semis have 13-18 speeds

Cool Now I know better.

I'm pretty narrow minded in my choice of cars. In my 20 years of driving all my cars have been GM rear wheel drive V-8's (2 Olds, 1 Corvette & 4 Z28's) with the exception of my wife's Sunfire (). So I'm pretty much ignorant on anything else !
