LS1 Mods

I have a 1998 Z28 with the 1LE option and a six speed. Right now it is completely stock. I ordered a new cat back exhaust for it, should be here soon. I was wondering what kind of mods could get me mid to low 12's. I was thinking aobut the new ZEX nitrous kit that can add 125 hp. Any other suggestions before I go with the nitrous? Anything would be helpful. Thanks

Re: LS1 Mods

try reading pages 1-5 of this forum...most questions on mods will be answered.

first mods to be done to an ls1 for hp (or to prepare for hp) are these (no particular order):

lid
160 stat w/ fan switch
headers
catback
pulley
ram air
ls6 intake (on 98-00 models)
subframe connectors
shifter (m6) or torque converter (a4)
lower control arms
tires

other suggestions:
ram air kit (SSRA)
gears
tuning
cam/heads

much more reliable than nitrous

Re: LS1 Mods

I'd suggest that you put the exhaust on, then do a lid, a cutout, long tube headers (if your emmisions allows it), a nice cam, and a good dyno tune. Throw some drag radials on it and I think your mid to low 12's should be acomplished quite easily.
