Just out of curiosity what would it take to do this?

Best way is to have a donor car, but off the top of my head i'd say engine, wiring harness, front crossmember are the big things.

And no, the LS1 is not too tall, you don't need new hood, fenders, etc.

They make a tubular k member for the ls1? Figure you could just get a complete ls1 with wiring harness and be covered there. Can you use an older t56 tranny with a newer ls1?

Yes it does work. Do a search, this has been beaten to death.

not worth it IMO

for less money you can make your LT1 eat an LS1 for lunch (and sound better doing it)

if you want an LS1, sell your car and buy a 98+

just my .02

Owning both a LS1 and a LT1, I share this opinion. Both engines are great, with their own pros and cons.

If you really want an LS1 car, buy one. But, you could build a crazy LT1-derived powerplant for the cost.
