LS1 Exhaust Pipe Sizing
LS1 Exhaust Pipe Sizing
I've searched some to try to find an answer to this question, but the results were too general. I have a 2000 Camaro SS (the one in my signature) with Borla catback exhaust. I'm looking to get headers, new cats, and a new y-pipe for the car, and I was looking at Hooker Super Competition ceramic coated long-tube headers, a pair of 3" Random high-flow cats, and a 3" y-pipe to go back to the 3" Borla exhaust. Is 3" piping from the engine back too large? Will I lose too much low end?
Re: LS1 Exhaust Pipe Sizing
probably hundreds have that setup.
i have longtubes, 3" ypipe, no cats and a straight pipe out the back.
what specifically were you interested in kknowing about the setup?

Re: LS1 Exhaust Pipe Sizing
People with internally stock LS1's and LT1's get great gains across the rpm range with LT's and true duals, even 3" duals if you get it tuned. I'm doing long tubes this winter and can't decide between true duals or the Y pipe route. Basically I can't decide if I want to sound like a 600 hp big block and have more bark then bite or sound like any other bolt on LS1.
