LS1 Bad Spark Plug Wire Expiriment
My car has had a history of bad spark plug wires, two have been replaced so far, and I don't know if one is bad right now becuase I got it used, even though there would probably be a SES light. Anyways, I'm replacing the spark plug wires soon and I was wondering if it is safe to do a little expiriement. I would like to drive my car around only running on seven cylinders. Basically I would like to feel the power loss for myself, so that way if a plug, wire, or coil goes bad, I will know..... Is this a safe thing to do? Thanks
Don't drive too far on 7 cylinders
. The cats don't like the unburned fuel headed their way. I replaced my spark plug wires with ones from Thunder Racing. They have been fine. LS1 spark plug wires are miles away from the exhaust manifolds. I can't imagine them failing often.

One was corroded and arcing, the other had the rubber or something begining to fall off leaving bare wire. I already ordered the Taylor "409" wires, they seem pretty cheap and they are 10+mm
If you do that, don't take the wire off, ground it to something. BTW, I am not reccomending you do it at all but you can't just leave it not connected to the plug and hanging there. The voltage built up in the coil has to go somewhere and it will eventually go through the side of the coil or back through the primary winding into the PCM.
