Question ls1

i got 160 thermastat and hypertech power programmer 3 and my gages still reads just left of the 210 degree mark. so whats going on with it

what year is it? I've heard the 99+ temp guages are just dummy guages

Welcome to the board!

This topic was discussed about 2-3 weeks ago, I think.

Do a search w/dummy gauges, or something like that, and I'm sure you'll find the thread.

But, yes, the gauge readings are not very accurate. That's just because GM wants to play it safe.

Lightbulb Camarokid167 has got it.

For better or worse, the '99 up temp gauges are more or less "dummies" .


What they are is inaccurate in the lower ranges, and apparently "come back to life" after ~ 225° F or so.


Supposedly there were customer complaints about the gauge swinging around, so this is their fix.

Whoever complained should have been shot - yes, I volunteer.
