loudmouth, dynomouth

Ok im getting exhaust very very soon. I was wondering, the dynomouth, is it the same thing as loudmouth exhaust with a bullet in it? Im not too sure, if so how much is the bullet and is it worth it. Im also getting a off road y pipe, should i just get exhaust now and save up again for the y pipe or should i just wait and buy both at the same time? Another thing is what site has the cheapest parts for ls1's?

Dynomouth? Don't you mean Dynomax?

There are 2 ways to get a Dynomouth Setup..

1. Have stock muffler cut off and custom Y-pipe in place of Muffler to keep dual exhaust look, then have the stock I-pipe cut and Dynomax Bullet Race Muffler either 12" or 18" muffler installed.

2. Loudmouth Exhaust w/ Resonator cut off with either a Dynomax Bullet in place of the Resonator..

You can go to Jeg's and pick up a Dynomax Bullet for part number 24222 (12") for $ 36.00 or 24219 (18") for $ 37.00 ... Since you are thinking of getting an ORY, get the 18" bullet...

On stock Y-pipe, Stock Manifolds, Stock Cats, Stock I-pipe, the 18" Bullet sounds great, add LT Headers and/or ORY, the car sounds meaner.. I have the DM on stock i-pipe, y-pipe,cats and stock manifolds w/ 18" bullet, sounds great and does grab some attention @ WOT.. As soon as I can get some good pics of the exhaust tips I have , I will post them....

Loudmouth + OR y-pipe = too loud.
If you plan on an OR y then go with a muffler either way described above.

Ok, i'm confused. Dont get the loudmouth with an offroad pipe? Is the offroad pipe even a good mod to do? Can you explain what you said about cutting off the muffler in more detail? Would that flow as good. I want it to flow really good and sound really mean.

allnet777, Ratio411's DM Howto Page

I went by what Dave aka Ratio411 has on his page except I used an 18" bullet muffler instead of the 12". I also changed the exhaust tips as well.. I took the diagram and new exhaust tips and muffler down to an exhaust shop, I know the owner and what the shop did, was take a sawall and cut off the stock muffler right after the rear end, Left the stock tips and part of the stock I-pipe on the muffler.. Then the I-pipe was cut and Bullet Muffler welded on, then the shop made a custom y-pipe and installed new exhaust tips.. Total price with new exhaust tips, Muffler and install was $ 201.. Parts from jegs.com was 106 + 95 (for install).. Not a bad deal considering a Loudmouth would have ran around $ 300..

What I would suggest to you, is listen to the Loudmouth and then listen to the Dynomouth.. Then decide from there. From what I have heard that ORY can add up too 25 HP or more but not too sure, since I have not ordered one just yet... When I first heard the LM, I was going to get it, but after I heard DM, I went with DM because the LM is pretty loud on stock piping (hence the name Loudmouth), and DM is not as loud in lower rpm range but @ 3K and above it screams like a racecar...

but is there any difference of horsepower gain from the loudmouth to doing what you suggested?

I don't think there would be a difference in HP gain when both LM and DM flow @ 2200 + CFM... The biggest restriction on the stock exhaust system is the muffler... The stock flows pretty well except for maybe the Y-pipe because it is flattened on the drivers side for clearance.. From what I have seen on cars that are basically stock, not much of a gain going to a Catback system versus just changing the muffler, so my guess that both DM on stock I-pipe will flow as well as LM and give the same HP increase..

I wonder about those flow numbers. That 2200 cfm being quoted was just the bullet, not the entire system. I don't remember him putting any components of the the LM on the flow bench. The LM has 2.5 inch tailpipes, stock ones are smaller. LM has 3 in intermediate, stock is 2.75 inch. Comparing one entire syswtem to the other....I doubt the DM will flow the same. Would the difference matter that much, probably not. I've seen some good dyno numbers with the DM.

I just took my LM off. Too loud for me. My freinds liked it, but they don't have to drive it everyday. Had to raise my voice when talking in the car. Can't imagine what it wouold be like with headers and y pipe. Make sure you listen and drive a car with the LM before you buy it. I must be getting too old.

I would save the money up and do both at the same time. No use getting under the car twice.

Actually I made a mistake by saying that the LM and DM flow @ 2200 + cfm

Actually I will give a post when I find it, I cannot remember the site that I seen it on... cannot remember exact url of the website.

anyways they had some CFM numbers and both DM and LM flowed @ 2100 CFM... which is still quite good numbers..
