Post Looking at buying a 2001 WS6

I'm looking at purchasing a loaded black 2001 WS6. The car has 24k miles and appears to be in good/excellent shape. I'll be trading in my 96 Camaro SS. The price on the WS6 is $26,900. Is this about what these beauties are going for or do I have some haggle room? My only problem with the car is the tires will soon have to be replaced and it is not a 6sp. What do you guys think?

That price seems a bit steep to me, especially since it needs tires. I'd think there's a lot of "haggle room". Have you checked the kelly blue book price? I love my '02 SS 6 spd. I paid $31,040. for it and it's the anniversary edition, BRAND NEW. I know T/A's are more money but I thought only a couple of grand. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that they're about 3 to 5 grand high on the price. Good luck Man..........

haggle room, for sure! You can buy a new one for 31K and this one has 24K miles on it already?? FWIW, I paid 29K for mine--brand new (with the 2002 rebate)...

Oh and nothing is wrong with an A4 with a nice stall

Wouldn't mind having the A4 at the track especially with a stall converter. My 6sp in the SS can be a real pain to launch. Do you think I should ask if they can come closer to the 25k range on the price and negotiate from there? Any good incentives on the new Pontiacs?

I think they have a two thousand dollar rebate deal going on Camaros and Firebirds? I'd shop around and see what '02's are going for....
Good luck.....

I have a 2002 Z28 with over $3000 in upgrades including a sharp looking ram air hood and it only has 9,000 miles, fully loaded, M6 t-tops, I'd sell it for $23,500

I just bought a 2001 WS6, loaded to the hilt, as a replacement for my 2001 Z28 that was wrecked last week.

Unfortunately, due to demand, you won't get it much cheaper than that. A little, but not much.

I bought a 2001 T/A WS6, 6-speed, loaded with every option, 12 disc changer, premium wheels and brand new 275 tires on it. (Those are some frikkin' wide tires)

The car has 29,900 miles on it and was stickered at $27K. I could not get them to drop a penny below $26K, and that took a pretty tough haggling session. However, I did get a good loan rate -- 6.4 % Oh, and I was buying this with zero down and no trade.

Here's my earlier post in the lounge.

I bought my 2002 WS6 Loaded for $28,000. For the price they are asking you might as well buy a new one. There are still a bunch of Black 2002's at dealers on the east coast. Go to www.pontiac.com and do a search. Once you find the one you want, email the dealer and ask for his best price...

I think GMAC has 0% financing back on. If you could afford a $26,000 car at around 6.5% then you should be able to afford a 29,000 new car at 0%. To give you an idea, I paid just under 28,000 for my brand new 2002 SS (really you want to look at how much over invoice. I paid 500 over INVOICE (not sticker)). I ordered before 0 percent but the car was delivereed durring 0%. My payment was going to be about $535 for 5 years at 6.7%. With 0.9% for 4 (they only do 0 for 3 years) years my payment was the same (with one whole less year of payments. Do the math. I saved about $6,000. I'm only paying about 400 to finance the car instead of about 6,000.
Just a thought.

unfortunately, as is usually the case with my ****-poor luck ... I needed a car THEN ... and dammit, wouldn't you know it that they started the 0% finance the next frikkin week.

But, I really don't think it would have mattered. Sunrise Pontiac wasn't budging on their prices for a new 2002 WS6. I looked at them and ran some numbers with them, but they just wouldn't come off that $33,000 sticker. So, I bought the 2001.

There current is a rebate on them of $3000 or 0% if you want that instead. The problem is that they are few and far between right now (at least around here in the Philly area). One guy wanted $1k under sticker, another wants sticker, and a third I checked wanted $500 OVER sticker. Demand is high because of the limited supply.

I ended finding a place with a few Z28's on the lot and picking up a M6 Z28 for $700 over dealer cost at 0% APR.

Well, I decided to go with a 2002. It seemed like the smart thing to do with the current incentives being offered. I put a $500 deposit down on a black 6sp that should be delievered any day now. Haven't signed on the dotted line yet though so I'll let you know how it goes.
