Longtubes w/catted y-pipe
Longtubes w/catted y-pipe
I've decided to get Pacesetter longtube headers with offroad y-pipe, and was wondering if I will be able to weld these catalytic converters into the offroad y-pipe?

Should there be any clearence issues? I'm going to use cats because I have the GMMG exhaust, and don't want any rasp. Will the longtube headers make my GMMG louder and deeper? I'm really scared that I'm going to destroy the awesome sound of my GMMG.
BTW, where on the y-pipe should I weld in the cats?

Dude, save yourself some money and get some carsound cats from e-bay. Carsound = Magnaflow

Personally I wouldn't bother trying to put cats on an ORY, just get an exhaust shop to fab up a custom Y.

Will I notice a power increase with long tube headers w/catted y-pipe? I plan on getting the Thunder Racing TR 224-112 cam, so would it still be ok to have high flow cats as far as performance goes?
Cats create a restriction so they will always rob some hp, especially if your engine is outputing more power with a cam. I read somewhere that Carsounds flow at 400cfm as opposed to the stock cats 220cfm, you will most definately gain from long tubes and a catted-y. I plan to run cats to quiet things down and to get rid of most rasp. Plus ORY's tend to make your car smell like a gasoline truck

I just got a set of 2.5" Carsounds cats for my true dual setup off of eBay for $128 shipped to Hawaii.. $56 each for the cats.
I picked up 26hp with my Pacesetter LT's and ORY. But they also made my TSP Rumbler exhaust sound like ***. You'll also love the TR224.. it's a proven cam.. me on the other had went with the TR230 which is a really nice cam also..
about installing cats.. if you want a catted y-pipe.. Don't spend the $125 on the Pacesetter ORY like I did..
Go to jegs or summit and buy a flowmaster collector, and have your exhaust shop fab one. It may be a few bucks more than the pacesetter ory, but you'll be happy in the end. GUARANTEED..
