lobe separation

i am thinking about upgrading my stock cam to an MTI Signature series cam. I want to maintain drivability and a low idle, does the lobe separation number have anything to do with this? What is the maximum lift stock springs can reach on a 98 LS1? Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions as far as any of this is concerned?

Re: lobe separation

something i forgot to mention before is that the car is a 1LE (suspension upgrades, and highest quality parts from part bin). will these "higher quality" parts mean my stock springs will get higher lift. if so is that just something common sense tells you or is there an actual number that has been proven?

Re: lobe separation

any cam upgrade will require new springs. u should call MTI and talk to someone there about the cam you're looking at. they can tell u what needs to be done when swapping that cam. most common upgrades with cams are springs and pushrods.

i like that thunder racing 224/224-114. whats the difference between the same duration model with a 112 lsa?

if you decide to get that 230/224-111 let me know what parts youre getting to go with it? not sure which one seems like the best buy yet.

As I understand it, the 112 LSA will have more lope to it and a slightly different power curve. The 114 LSA will be slightly easier to tune for emissions and auto trannies. But, I could be wrong.
