Re: LM vs. cutout

I am going to put a cutout right before the muffler and probably add a elec. valve to it later. You may find a muffler shop to remove the stock muffler and put straight pipes in it's place like a loudmouth without the bullet muffler. Remove or gut the cats will add more noise if that is not enough. But a shop cannot remove them legally for you and you had better not need to pass smog inspection. Even for a inspection sticker in Texas they are supposed to see if the cats are there. (The reason to just gut them.) I like the idea of noise/more power when I want and quiet for sneaking/stealthing around, that is why the elec. cutout sounds perfect for me. Can't wait to see the look on someones face when they hear the cutout open and I'm pulling away.

IMO, on an LS1, the loudmouth sounds like ***, so does a cutout, but it sounds less like *** id imagine the cutout if placed at the end of the ypipe would make more power also than the loudmouth. id just get a QTEC and stick it on your stock exhaust, sneaky closed and loud as hell when open.

Power wise I'm sure they are very similar.
Agreed

IMO, the LM doesn't sound great but it's a helluva a lot better than a cutout. Power is probably equal and if you want to make some noise...they don't call it loud mouth for nothing.
