Lingenfelter!!! (Turn ONE) Power Steering Pump

Ok so i get a new pump because my stock one broke, I got the new one on, and its weird, at idle it doesnt seem to be working, and yet when I give it a little gas it seems normal, Is this suppost to be like this or does this sound odd. And this pump says its suppost to reduce heat and reduce horsepower loss, which I dont think is true but I could be wrong. Looking for your input

well if it is suppose to reduce hp and what not and cars get rid of power steering for more power I would say it is doing what you bought it for.

If this is the same pump I've heard about from Turn One, then yes, thats normal behavior...

Cutting pasting from mitchtx's post on ls1.com in the autox/rr section.

ASA cars were destroying PS pumps because of the pump's design. The pump churns out ~12gpm only needing about 3 at speed. The remaining is recirculated which adds heat. The ASA cars were seeing fluid temps at 300*F +. The Turn One refurb pumps at ~6gpm which reduces recirc and thus the temps to about 220* under identical conditions.

There is a issue, though. At low RPM, like idle, turning effort is greatly increased. It's not as if you had zero PS, but it's significantly degraded simply because the pump isn't pumping enough fluid. And it's only in quick "panic" type maneuvers that it is really evident. Is that a problem?

Sitting still and trying to turn the wheel ...

Yes, it is difficult.

But to make it easy on your equipment, you should always try to be moving slightly while attemtping to turn.

Since installing the pump, I've had ZERO whine and puke ...
