2002 Z-28...........whenever i start my car i hear a ticking noise, i think its a lifter.......the noise goes away after a while, but that cant be good is it? the car runs fine, no loss of power ....etc., any ideas?

I know the sound you're talking about.......mine's like that too. It's either the piston slap - which is common with LS1's - or it could be lifters too IMO. With my car, I feel like there's a "knocking" sound (piston slap) that eventually goes away once it's warmed up, but I also hear a sound that I think is lifters, cause it sounds like what lifters do when you loosen them while doing valve adjustments. Even when the car is warm, there's a constant "tick tick tick tick tick tick" sound that isn't piston noise IMO. I don't think it's a problem though?! Just annoying!?

i went to the dealer today and he said it was piston slap.......common problem....not an issue though.......when its cold it takes a while to stop , but when its warm and i start it it goes away within 10 or 12 seconds.....thanks guys!
