Life of Stock Clutch?

How long do these things last?? How do you know if you need a new clutch, and how can you tell if it's slipping when your at WOT? Also, how many of you can chirp third with stock clutches? I cant, I just hear woooooggg sound before it catches... hmm.

Maybe my clutch is going, i'm not sure...

Any good aftermarket ones, and will they help any?

I had my stock clutch replaced .. it started feeling mushy and didn't seem to grab as well. I had my Z28 about 5 months before the switch and got it used so I'm not to sure how the completely fresh stock clutch feels but after I noticed a change I bought the McLeod Rev-Lok II clutch disc and pressure plate which grab BIG time and is nearly indestructable .. my only problem with it is getting around in parking lots and any other instance where I am trying to move slowly ... it likes a lot of RPM's and will 'complain' if it doesn't get them.. I posted about this problem earlier today if anyone wants to help me out.

Depending on how the car is driven, there are stories of stock clutches going on 60k miles I beleive.

I am pretty sure my clutch is stock. Bought the car with 43k on it, it's now got 47.5k on it. When I got the car the clutch was a lot firmer than it is now, I think it may be time for me to get a new clutch sometime soon. I don't know much about clutches, but that's my guess.

No. They can not control how well someone drives a manual trans car. The only reasons they touch brakes are that they know their rotors are junk and they are cheap to fix and make their buyers happy about their service.

41k here and still going. Only stuck and smoked once, and that was probably 18 months ago....

Got 75000 on mine. Starting to go though. If I just dump the clutch on hard launches it grabs fine. But if I try to slip it...........forget it. It just keeps slipping and I have to back out of the throttle some times for it to hook up. Going to replace it within the next 3-4 months.

Talking

A good driver that doesn't beat on it or race much will get 50-60k out of it.

Mine has 51K miles-not too bad since I learned how to drive a stick with it. The last time I went to the track, I smelled the clutch for a few days and I really had to stand on the pedal to put it in gear. It slips occasionally-I plan on changing it soon.

47K and still on the original clutch. I'm hoping to see 60K out of it. If I get to 60K, I'll be happy.

This is my daily driver with some "spirited driving" at least once a day. I've taken it to the track a few times. The last time I went, I made 14 passes in one night. The last 4 passes were hot-lapped and the clutch was not gripping too good, but other than that, no real complaints.

If you dont beat the hell out over it, a factory clutch can live over 100,000 miles. If your at 80,000 miles and you keep checking to make sure you can still chird'em through 3rd well than thats why you may not make it to 100,000 on the clutch.
