Post Lids and LT headers in Calif

I've been bitten by the mod bug. I have a number of modifications planned for my car; lid, cat-back, headers, suspension, etc. Since I live in California and my Z28 is a daily driver, I intend to only use California smog legal parts.
My question concerns lids and long tube headers and how they figure with CA. smog emissions. I know K&N FIPK is CARB certified. However it is pricy compared to other lids. Does anyone know if other manufacturer's lids have become smog certified in California. I thought of shorties, JBA's are smog legal, but the consensus here is they give no real gains over the stock manifolds. I hear long tubes make a bigger performance gain over shorty headers . Next, I heard no long tube headers are not smog legal in California. Is this true? If not which long tube headers are the exception.

So, what I'm asking is which lids and LT headers are smog legal in California?

I have a '98 Z28 LS1 M6

Thanks

Mid or long tubes are not legal there... You know how Kalifornia is.

i believe they will pass emissions, but it is against the law to replace your working cats. So in that case they are illegal everywhere. So i don't think it realy matters.

You aren't allowed to relocate the catalytic converters, and since they are right off the stock exaust manifolds on LS1s anything besides a shorty header will REQUIRE their relocation! So that makes mid and long tube headers illegal in CA due to this forced relocation.

Buy some JBA shortys, a G2 ypipe and a cat back (like a Corsa!), then top it off with an ATI Procharger (screw the lid). CARB legal, and 450+ horsepower!

Thanks for clearing the emissions issue on LT headers guys. Some manufacturers are claiming their LT exhaust systems are 50 state street legal. But your right, CARB is very unyielding about any modifications affecting emissions. It is very frustrating to see all of the mods and the power gains all over the board. Yet know they don't apply to cars with a California registration. Well enough sniveling over the engine bay. Thanks for the info guys and SpikeLS1 I particularly like your solution, WOO HOO! Maybe someday.

But is the K&N FIPK the only CARB cert. lid out available?
