Lids and lids and lids

Ok guys, I'm looking into either the SLP lid or one of those clear lids. My question is...the SLP FloPac comes with alot of **** that i dont know about other than the lid, what do those things do. I'm am a new guy to the whole badass ls1 thing, and i need some practical info. Also, where can i find one of those cool clear lids?

Mti has clear lids. I haven't seen the slp flopack however i'd bet that it is a ramair kit as well as a lid.

I like the TSP lids. Don't waste your money on the flowpack. I wouldn't get an aftermarket MAF. The TSP lid and SSRA make for a good combo.

the flowpac is pretty much a waste of money.

the lid is about the only worthwhile thing.

aftermarket filters have recently been proven (kindda) to not gain much of anything over stock paper. bellows are 99.9% visual and have lead to some cracked lids due to not enough flex. and the SLP cai is not really worth much, you can get about the same with the "free ram air" mod.

the best combo:

any lid you like ( i think MTI and texas-speed.com sell clear)
Super Sucker Ram Air
any filter you like...i like aftermarket cause i can clean it

do a search for SSRA you'll see alot

Re: Lids and lids and lids

The flowpac is a waste kinda because u get some parts that u don't really need. It comes with the SLP lid and cold air induction, and the filter and smooth bellows. The smooth bellows is just a cosmetic piece, no performance. The filter...... if i didn't have a holley powershot cuz it came with it i would stick with a stock paper. The SLP lid is probably the best lid.......great quality, finish, gains, fitment. All topnotch. The cold air is good, i found some sheetmetal laying around so i think i'm just gonna try to make my own extension. The SSRA and FTRA is basically an extension of the regular CAI.

Anybody ever make their own extension of the SLP CAI? Got any pics of it?

lol recently proven? air filters have never given any kind of noticeable power.

the flopac is alright, but you're better off with just a lid and a cold air induction. same price really if you get the good stuff, i.e. clear lid & ssra cold air.

Re: Lids and lids and lids

SSRA is the short name for super sucker ram air, created by al austin, design is relevent to fast toys ram air, www.austinperformanceinc.com for some looks n' info, purchase from www.lmpperformance.com or www.ls1speed.com i think, better than the ram air hoods in most peoples opinion, i have it, it shows great gains, no reason to get the flowpac, i dont believe in the smooth bellows, i dont think a aftermarket MAF is the way to go until you have some major mods such as heads n' cam, on stock setups it has shown decreased hoprsepower gains, the ssra is like the slp cold air intake but it scoops lower and has an actual scoop that bolts to the bottom of the bumper.
