Lids...

What is a lid, and what lid gives you the most hp gain? Thanks, Ryan

A "lid" Is really an airbox that seals in your air filter. All aftermaket lids perform the same overall netting about 10-20 rwhp over stock. The lids I perfer is Direct-flo or TSP (Texas speed & performance). They can be found at

www.texas-speed.com
www.ls1motorsports.com

Lol, that sounds dumb, 10 - 20 RWHP with a different lid for your airbox. Well, whatever works...since they are all the same, what one does everyone get? Thanks, Ryan

It's really more like 3-10 hp over stock...I just bought a carbon fiber whisper lid, and it's real nice. No one lid is a lot better than any other. The reason I got the carbon fiber one is because it also has the looks to go along with the little extra power.

I got my lid from tbyrnemotorsports.com and I'm having a problem with it fitting correctly. I've been told I should trim the bellows but I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

After I got it on, I did a few runs at the track and didn't really notice much of a difference in my times.

Is there something that can go in place of a lid that adds more power?

Perhaps because its not fitting completely secure it may be disrupting the airflow somewhat..

now in answer to the above.. 3-10 RWHP sounds about right.. and thats just the lid over stock.. none of these crazy claims about one lid netting that much over any other..

I prefer the AC Delco filters personally as I feel they give me more hp (3 on average) according to my dyno runs. I just dont feel like running my car with the lid until I get the absolute most out of it bone stock. Which changes in about 1.5 weeks with my new tires coming on since my original GS-C's now have 28+K miles! hehe

Getting my Yokohama ES-100's and then after they get tested at the track eventually, I'll start adding my mods for fun.. Going to tr for the highest horsepower pizza delivery fleet since I have a few motorheads working for me now. hehe

Dumb? Have you seen a stock lid? I don't think you have! And yes people have seen 10 RWHP from a lid.
