Question Lid vs. Stealth?

Does the stealth air box outperform the lid? The stealth looks bada$$ and thats what I was leaning towards, and Ive read posts where some say the dyno # are pretty even.

Wink

The Stealth lid especially at high speeds will give you more power plus it's higher quality than all the other lids out there. It'll last as long as your car does which can't be said for most of the lids out there.

I DID THE DYNO TESTS ON THIS LAST WEEK! CHECK MY SIG!!! ARRGH!
hehe

sorry for the caps.. just thought EVERYONE knew about it already! hehe

Warbird came down and brought the stealth.. I installed it after doing a baseline run, then i did the MTI again... then I did some more base lines..

I am waiting to get to the track (Looks like this week) to do some runs and test it out there..

I had the Stealth and loved it, in my car i noticed a power increase going from the lid to the stealth and it smoothed out the the air flow better at high speeds, So once my new car comes in i'm goin for another stealth

lets throw the fipk in the mix, Ive seen it priced at $299.Stealthperformance has the stealth for $259. Performance from what ive read is pretty much equal and I believe that it all comes down to looks and price. Now as far as looks ive never seen the fipk mounted on a car. Does anybody have a pic of one.

I wonder if the MTI lid vs. Stealth would show a greater difference with some more mods, such as MAF ends, ported throttle body, etc? If something else in the intake track was the restriction, then no matter how big a lid you put on, you won't see a difference. Just food for thought.

Great comparo, I love seeing things like this.

well, on a stock car with no tuning I dont see MAF (very hit and miss with more miss), or other intake addons making a difference.. now I have the LS6 intake stock and I am sure that my TB is capable of flowing enough air for more HP.. and my MAF should as well.. so where is the bottle neck? Probably elsewhere... but like I stated, the Stealth leaves a large opening below the filter and that is why I think at the track it may show a slightly better time..

The K&N FIPK would be a good one and I will be up for it when I find one..
there is a pic of one on the board cause there is a discussion about it going on now.. As for looks being the decider.. I dont agree..

here is why..
Stock - ugly and boring..
Aftermarket lids - nice and come in a variety from $80-$150 and I would venture to say that they offer about the same performance all around.. Yet the car gets louder.. I didnt like that at all..
Stealth Air - Smooth looks that border on stock but its track results have yet to be tested by me.. (hopfully this week though)
K&N FIPK - Looks OK.. but its also looks like it will need to be cleaned very often. "rumors" of 20+rwhp gains over stock lids are out there.. but no sheets of before and afters shown.. For $299 it had better be proven IMO... Heresay is what I am trying to combat... at least for myself..

My dyno numbers (in my sig) show a gain of 26 RWHP over stock with just a FIPK. Needless to say I was very happy with the results. Even the guys in the shop were impressed. However I will admit that it was probably a "good" day on the dyno.

BTW Psychocabbage, I have always enjoyed reading your input on the board. I'm impressed with your common sense approach i.e. "does this really help your car" to modding.

Can the stealth be used in conjunction with FTRA? I wonder if it could what kind of hp gain you could see from that?
