Which lid for the intake????

Which lid do you think offers the highest potential and will give me the most bang for the buck???

Whisper claims 15+ HP gain
SLP claims 10HP at the rear wheels
MTI, no idea on the advertised gain but it's clear and pretty cool looking.

I have the SLP lid.
i installed it with less then 200 miles on clock, so i never realy saw a
difference in power. I did however see a big differnce in power at
the top end after i did the free ram air mod from www.installuniversity.com . that mod is a must.

I run a Direct flow. If I were to buy a new one now it would be a Texas speed.

I am really considering a Lid for my '99 SS. I am also leaning
toward getting the TSP lid.

tsp fit and finish rocks.

i doubt there is much of a difference in power gains between brands..probably less than 2 or 3 hp between the best and worst. TSP has a dyno graph of theirs making more power than a competetor though.

it's worth checking out.

Dosen't somebody make a whole box for LS1's? Seems like I saw a website advertising it once... the new box has a bigger opening for an air filter and is supposed to increase that space in the front that allows air in... anybody have more info. on this?

An aftermarket lid is a lid is a lid. Power differences are very minimal.

Exactly. I got my whisper lid from tbyrnemotorsports and after running at the track, didn't notice much of a difference.

.....I dont like the lid

I have had two..the MTIclear and the SLP.....they both fit like crap.......but then again I liked the way they look....

I would rather run a 4 inch pipe to the side like the LT1......some stuff would have to be moved

If your gonna get the same out of every lid you might as well get the one that looks good. I say go with the MTI Clear lid! Pics in the sig if you wanna see it on a car.
