my ac compressor looks to be leaking a red fluid. is that possible? what would the leak be from if not the ac?? also it is a 98 z28 m6

 

There is nothing that is red that should be coming from the A/C compressor. If you have an automatic transmission, the transmission fluid is red, and I know that the trans lines go right past the A/C compressor, so its possible you have a tranny fluid leak that just happnens to be in the vicinity.

Dex Cool engine coolant can appear to be orangish or pinkish, so if its anti freeze, it could also come from the same proximity.

However, the most likely thing you are seeing it water condensation mixing with rust and leaking on the ground. When the AC is on, a lot of water condensation builds up, and the bottom of your car develops rust in some strange areas, mix the two, and voila, brownish/red water.

 

well it is not an auto. but i thought about condensation, but it is thick. it does look like tranny fluid. do any lines run around there on a 6 speed?

 

Well I don't know if there are any lines there but the fluid in your M6 is also ATF. Witch is red.
