Question Last time, Flowmaster or Magnaflow?

Okay this will be the last time I ask about an exhaust system. My choice is between Flowmaster and the Magnaflow. I am leaning towards the Magnaflow after the response that I got from my last post. There was a mention about getting flowmaster. Performance is not a big deal for me right now, I just want the mean sound. I have heard Flowmaster, but I know the flow is not as good as the Magnaflow. Between these two which sound do you think is more aggressive? Thanks again.

had the magnaflow on my 96z...LOVED IT

bought my 99z with a flowmaster (muffler only) and it was nice and aggressive.

i installed the magnaflow on the 99Z without any cats and it sounds down right scary!! VERY aggressive and loud, yet around town and on the highway you can barely notice it even with the tops off.

at WOT it is a bit raspy due to no cats, but i don't mind, how often am i really truely at WOT...and when i am...do i care what it sounds like? not really...

and the performance is great

I had magnaflows on my mustang, and it sounded AWEASOME.I don't know how else to describe it,but i liked it so much that i now have a magnaflow catback sitting in the garage waiting to be installed on my 2000 camaro ss.

Although i have heard someone say that if you go with LT's off road y pipe it'll suck, that's why i'm ordering LT's and a catted y pipe.I heard a soundclip from a boardmember, and it was breathtaking.Go with magnaflow dude.

I've had the Flowmaster 3 inch American Thunder catback on my 99 Z28 A4 for about 6 months and it sounds great. I purchased mine from summit for 299.99 + 15.00 for shipping and was well pleased. I had it in two days. It came via fed ex. I recently installed a SLP y-pipe and it beefed up the sound quite a bit. I really like my setup and there is nothing like that Flowmaster Sound! Good luck with your exhaust.

I agree, Flowmaster sounds wicked. However, it does crap for your performance. Practically robbing you of horsepower. The flow numbers showed that the Flowmaster cross-flow muffler flow horribly compared to any other system made for our cars. This is why they are somtimes reffered to as Crapmaster.

Generally Flowmaster makes high performance mufflers, but the cross-flow design seemed to be the ugly duckling. However, a cutout with the Flowmaster Cat-back would be a nice combo, which is what I'm doing. Loud and fast, or crisp-sound cruising... Win Win situation.

Haha, remember when you came and heard my cut-out....well why didn;t you say something? I replaced the SLP muffler on my cat back with the one that comes on the Magnaflow cat back. Let me know if you wanna meet up and hear it, I'll cap the cut out for ya. Sounds really nice and scary at full throttle!!

Magnaflow is the way to go. It won't draw police attention like a flowmaster will, but it sounds great when you lay into it. Still wakes the neighbors up at morning idle, with the burble of abigblock. If you go !cats or headers down the road it will be even louder. A very classy sound IMHO.

My only gripe about my Magnaflow is that it's too quiet.

The quality of the sound is excellent, but I heard two Formulas in the parking garage at school today and it really makes me want to change my exhaust to something louder. If you want something that has excellent flow and won't attract attention, Magnaflow is the way to go.

i have just a flowmaster muffler (no catback). as stated above it does nothing for performance really. the sound quality is nice but when there are other options available that sound "as good" if not better that DONT "rob" you of performance.. why? id go with the magnaflow.

im looking to get a GMMG chambered exhaust in a few months getting my ORY-pipe and LT headers done this month.

[EDIT] o yeah at idle its silent.. that sucks.

/tek.

I love the sound of the Magnaflow, especially w/o cats. The Flowmaster sounds nice, but people have said it doesn't flow as nice.

Sure, there are plenty of other systems out there that flow better...the flowmaster 80 series mufflers and catback system have been known to a be restrictive....The American Thunder system is the newest in the line and flows much better too....
