L92 with L76 intake

Is anybody here contiplating a stroker using the new L92 block and heads with the L76 intake (or similar GM release intake)?

I'm asking because that was what I'm leaning towards for my winter money spending project. Great flowing heads and intake that are inexpensive on a shortblock (416 CI) that costs around $4500.

Edit: Sorry if this belongs in the Advanced section

Re: L92 with L76 intake

Looks like no too much interest.

I should be getting close to 500rwhp out of the combo.

It's about the same as a 402 stroker with inexpensive but great flowing GM heads.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

I am contemplating doing the same thing on one of my ls1's. I have an iron 6.0L and a 5.7 that I wanted to stroke and put a set of these onto and see what it would do...but I dont even have the car to put it in yet! lol

Yeah I like building engines. I need a C5 now to justify building this I think I've had too many camaro's and T/A's

I haven't done any research yet but it sounds intriguing.

Yeah, L92-talk is non-existant on this board.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

I've been waiting on GM to get off their hands and get the L92 block and the L76 intake out. I've been waiting on a dealer in Texas to get the parts.

The performance should be outstanding for the price. short block for around $4500. + L92 heads complete are $798.50 for a pair. If I go on to add FI or a couple hundred HP shot of nitrous later on it will really make it haul (or tear stuff up)

Man, I'm plotting the same thing. I'd probably go with a 6.0 block and the L92 heads. I'm just waiting to see what options we're going to have for intakes. I think there's a lot of power to be had from a setup like that.

I've got fed up with GM. I contacted an Australian supplier and see if they can ship me an intake. Since they are already at the end of the '06 model year these parts are available. I'm sure they are also available in AUS. salvage yards too. The L92 heads will fit on 40x inch LS2 stroker so the block release isn't that much of a problem.

If GM wants to make money how about selling some parts? I saw an article with 3 valve heads. I'd tell GM to quit screwing around, produce, sell and make some money and some happy customers along the way. Warhawk short blocks are going to be available soon for around $7k. Looks like GM will lose out on revenue by being the "slowest" supplier.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

No ****, they're not getting in a big hurry at all. Are there ANY intakes available for those heads that will fit an F-body? Last I heard, the only thing available was the L92 intake and it's too tall. I guess we'll just have to play the waiting game.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

The L76 intake is used on cars built by Holden. It should fit under a F-Body hood and flow better than many popular current combos.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

That's good to know. It might finally be time to get started on a new motor. I've got to do some research before I get started, but I'm shooting for 550RWHP N/A. I think that's definitely attainable with some of the parts out there, I'm just trying to check out all my options before I get started.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

The article I read in I think it was GMHTP said the heads and intake fit an iron block. So if they do they should fit aluminum block LS1's too, right?

The intake appears similar to the LS1. I dont see why it wouldnt fit under a stock hood. I wonder how it flows in comparision to an aftermarket intake or if any aftermarket intakes could be used in place of it?

I'm now considering not using my 6.0L and just getting bigger bores in my LS1 block. 100# is alot of weight and I dont see why an aluminum block couldnt handle it. I think I still might sell my 6.0 to pay for the heads and stuff.

Re: L92 with L76 intake

I believe you must have at least a 4.0" bore.

L92 is 4.065"

Re: L92 with L76 intake

Finally...The first L92 blocks are arriving at some dealerships. No D@mn word on intakes yet.

L92 heads run LS1 springs. Swap out for 918 springs.
