Talking Boy, you oughta find a lot of hits w/ a search of the F Body lounge !

At any rate, I have them now - Ecsta Supra 712's.

Roughly $ 130.00 a tire from Discount - price alone is enough to make you smile.

Great wet weather traction, O.K. dry - but I have a stall converter, so I can pretty much overpower any tire shy of a drag radial.

22K on mine - 1 rotation at 7K , and then I said to heck w/ it - let the rears burn !!

The fronts have another ~ 5K left - the rear* are not quite to the wear band, but are getting close.

My .02.

Good Luck !

Britt

* Note that I said rear . Just this A.M. , I had a flat on the right rear - big azz piece of metal did the tire in - perhaps turning into the driveway at work.

At any rate, I now have a new, right rear compliments of Discount Tire & my road hazard warranty.

Car kinda sits lopsided now !

That's bad for your limited slip rear end........ Tires are turning different speeds. That will toast the rear quick.....

kumhos were the worst tires I ever used.
I would recommend Yokohama ES100 instead.. For a tad bit more (from tire rack) you get a better tire with much better properties all around from dry grip to wet weather traction.. as most performance tires go, do not use in snow..

I have tried many tires and would have to say that for the $ there is no better bang for your buck.. and with a cheaper tire, you can run a newer tire more often than spending 2xs the money on a high end tire.

Kumho 712's on all 4 corners here. Great traction in the rain, great traction in the dry. But, I still can't cut better than a 2.1 60' time on them at the track. Of course, that could be my 4.11 rear + street tires making it hard to launch.

Great tire for the money. However, traction at the track is slim to none.

Had my Kumho's for about 3 wks. Havent driven car enough
to make any raves or complaints. Very nice looking tire
( supras 275/40/17 's all around). Mine were about $145
a piece from a local tire store.

I've had the Kumho tires as well and as others have said, they have pretty good wet traction, and their tread lasts a lot longer than other Z rated tires due to their harder rubber, but that also kills your dry traction. As others have said, dry traction is seriously lacking with these tires.

I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and in this case, you get a good everyday tire for someone who drives in all kind of weather and wants their tires to last longer than the average Z-rated tire. But if you expect to drag race your car, I highly recommend getting something else.

Just got 17x9.5 ZR1's and 275/40/17's all around a couple weeks ago as well. I had some Falken POS's before these .. although I can't say the 712's are the greatest tire around, they're a huge improvement from what I had. Like others said above, you can't beat the price but you can beat the performance .. for more price With the wheel purchase I wasn't looking to spend a huge amount of cheddar on tires .. next time ill probably end up getting the 712's up front and some DR's in the back.

For what its worth, there ARE inexpensive tires out there that still have decent grip. I bought my car new with the Goodyear GS-Cs on them and although they gripped okay, the tread wore away in about 28k miles. I didnt feel like spending big money on them, so I went with Futura Ultra Zs which were $99 at the time (mind you, these were 245 series 16" tires). Those tires had BETTER grip than the Goodyears and better wet traction as well, however, they wore down as fast as the goodyears. When those wore down, I upgraded to 17" tires from Tirerack, who didnt carry Futuras. I figured if the cheap Futuras were good, I could get another cheap tire and equal the performance. My above mentioned Kumhos are 275 series tires, yet the traction is easily worse than the Futuras. Remember, I went from tires showing the wear marks to brand new tires, and the grip was still noticably worse.

I've looked, and I think the 17" Futura Ultra Zs are around $140 ea, and I would highly recommend them for someone looking for a good all around tire for cheap.

Tires near the wear marks will have more dry grip. The tread wears away leaving more flat rubber to ride on the road....

I have the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s $107 ea. @ tire rack.
They have been on about 5 months.
I have not driven in the rain - sure they do well.
I like the tread pattern as far as looks.
I think the aqua channel is a bit wide?

Dry traction is ok, I put 275/40/17's and still spin,
but the back of the car does not shoot as far out
when it hits second gear as it used to and I finally ripped a
2.0 at the track after they were put on.

They were cheap and should last a while. New what
I was buying and I am pleased overall.

I have the ecsta supra 712's, I think they are a decent tire for being so cheap.

Whent hey were first mounted, they must have had some wierd coating cause they were rediculously bad. Took a few days to get them worn in and gripping..

Compared to my Comp T/A's when they were new, they give earlier warning and break away more progessively.. Wet traction is pretty good(especialyl sicne it rains ALOT in the fall and winter here)

That middle groove does seem pretty wide though..

If I need cheap tires again, I'll probably get them. Else spend more money on a better tire.

Tire near the wear marks usually get rock hard, cause of the construction and all the heat cycles they went thru, even if there is more rubber hitting the ground. By my SOTP, worn tires = less traction.
