Just put a cutout on my car! My impressions and advice....
I just had a cutout installed on my baby yesterday, and figured I would offer my experiences...
I bought the 3" cutout from summit... 26 bucks. It fit perfectly outside the OEM I pipe on the car making for a quick clean install. The cutout appears to be a dissimilar metal as oppsed to the factory aluminized exhaust... the welding went smoothly, but he had to turn down the juice a tad. I had it mounted facing the passenger rear wheel, almost in the bump in the floorboards under the rear seat. Doesnt seem to even heat the floorboards after a few WOT runs, so Im pleased with that. I paid 50 bucks for the install, because the guys were bored. Oh, and cash seems to work well
The guys who installed it had to drop the pipes at the base of the exhaust manifolds (snapped one stud), but didnt have to remove the whole setup to do a neat clean cut and weld.
Best part is the car sounds exactly like a SLP loudmouth... even has the drone, altho its at 1700 rpm, not 2100. I am sure the car is faster, altho i would never be able to tell you... it is so cold out i havent been able to press the pedal to the floor in months. Apparently summer tires turn hard as a rock when it is 10 degrees out
So yeah, total cost ... 76 bucks ... prob picked up at least 10 hp, and 75-100% more intimidation. Quiet at idle, vicious (good kind) sounds off idle to 5k, and almost no popping, or any of the harshness I was expecting (and can get with the SLP LM). Letting off the gas, or downshifting as you go into a corner... pure bliss !

Welcome to the board.
I love mine and I have gutted cats! Will be doing a cam with a 112lsa this spring when I take it out of storage and plan on keeping in uncapped then too. Other drivers are intimidated and the women love it!
I have a cut out also an i love it. I have it open 24-7. What this i hear aboutsound quality with cut out and headers. i was plannin on getting headers eventually. So how bad is it with cutout and headers?
You are right about one thing women do love it, I do. My old 94 I had gutted cats and a 3 inch pipe with no muffler
My SS I have a cutout and flowmasters. The flowmasters where a waste of money. I always keep the cap off. Can't wait to get headers now. Hope it's real LOUD! I like my cars so loud that when people have there windows roled down and i pull beside them they role it up

I just recently ordered my electric 3" cutout from www.dmhperformance.com and can't wait to get it installed.
I am thinking about getting electric cutouts. They sound like they kick a$$. One min. you are quiet and stealth, the next you are showing people what an F-Body is all about.
What are the best components to buy? In this order>
Headers>Cutouts>Caysts>Y-Pipe>Exhaust

My car runs Long Tubes, Off Road Pipe to a cutout. Yes thats no cats no muffler with Long Tubes. A few board members have heard my car. Needless to say I get stares and compliments all day long about the way my car sounds. Some of my friends cover their ears when my car starts up.
