just a little info
just a little info
I just bought a 2002 collector edition trans am ws6. I am new to the ls1 and was wanting to know if i have the ls6 intake and what kind of heads do i have. And also if there is really any difference between the ls1, ls2, ls6. Thanks, ryan
Your car comes with an LS6 intake manifold and LS1 heads, like all cars from 2001+.
241 is the newer style LS1 castings found typically in 2001-2004 LS1 cars. They aren't much different power and performance-wise than the 853s or the original castings (forgot the number
).
The LS6 head is the 243 and found in the 01-04 Z06 Corvettes.
The LS1 and LS6 are nearly identical besides the LS6 comes with slightly smaller combustion chambers which gives it more compression along with a beefier camshaft. Both are 346ci.
The LS2 is basically the same design as the LS6, but it comes in 364ci.
They aren't much different when you start modding them all and most parts are interchangeable on each.
LS1 - 350 horsepower... around 10.2:1 compression.
LS6 - 385 horsepower in 2001 and 405 in 2002+.... around 10.5:1 compression
LS2 - 400 horsepower 364ci..... around 10.8:1 compression
