Nice purchase!! I may be a bit biased though. You will love the car and it will get tons of looks. I heard the loudmouth sounds great too. Enjoy.

Congrats on the Firehawk, they're real head turners (for those who know what they are).

Add a lid to your list of mods too. They're around $100, the most popular LS1 mod, and it's good for about 5-10 HP.

ditch the flowpac...you don't need the $50 smooth bellows...just get a filter and a lid

doesn't the FH already have a good exhaust

if you have the factory hurst shifter save some $$ and just do the short stick. i have one that i want to sell if you are interested...pics on my webpage in the sig

Yup, the FH came with the SLP dual/dual. You could save $ and put a bullet muffler in the I (close to the Y) then run a Y and pies to delete the SLP muffler since its already 3" piping. There is also the TSP Rumbler, its much less raspy than the loudmouth. The loudmouth makes me think of glasspacks when I hear them. The Y is pointless also. Minimal gains over the stocker unless you go delete the cats or run highflows. Save the cash and get a Y when you get headers.

I think the FHs came with an airlid too. I may be wrong on that though. The rest of the flow pack is a waste IMO. There are other ram air set ups that are better. SLP isn't the all great LS1 performance company. Shop around. Things can be found elsewhere w/better customer service.

I agree w/ Teke, the short stick makes the factory Hurst a much better shifter.

The 10.4 mm wires are a bit overkill. 8 or 8.5 mm wires should do just fine.

I'd get subframe connectors (SFCs) before a STB. They are far more beneficial. They tighten up your chassis and cut down on rattles as the milage climbs.

Get in touch with a local f-bod club. There are always people demodding their cars to sell them. You'll find some great deals that way.

Enjoy your car!

Re: just got 99 firehawk

appreciate all the replies. i just spoke with a guy down the road from me with a 98 z28. with kooks headers and gmmg exhaust. sounds awesome. i'm gonna ditch the flowpac idea. it does come with there exhaust but isn't loud enough.i think slp lids come with there logo on it. this one doesn't have that.thanks for the good advice. glad to be back on here with an f body. later bryan

Re: just got 99 firehawk

Go to home depot and buy a 3"-3" fernco plumbing fitting. Then take off the metal and put in the microwave to soften it up and slap that bad boy on. $50>$8

Nice purchase on the Hawk BTW. I love mine and people look everywhere i go (my car is also REALLY loud).

Get a lid 1st, then headers. Dont mess with exhaust as the hawk exhaust is already good enough.

Re: just got 99 firehawk

Only the 2002 Firehawks came with the lid. The stock Firehawk exhaust sounds excellent with headers and no cats, and it is a terrific flowing exhaust. The only reason to change is to amp up the volume or shave a few pounds from the back end, which isn't that important compared to front end weight. Further, while a Loudmouth sounds okay stock, if you're dropping the cats, it may be too obnoxious.

Great car by the way!
