I never understood what NBM stood for.

What is it?

Edit: Nevermind. It's Navy blue Metallic.

Welcome to the LS1 club Mike, I used to have an LT1 car but time to move on. Once you get started on your new car you will find it to be easyer to work on than the LT1.

It looks alot easier to work on but man.... my LT1 is so much more fun in every day traffic, SOTP wise. So umm.. I would consider myself to be very knowledgeable on the LTx family of motors. Now the LSx platform.. I don't know much other than they respond better to mods. What are some cheap or better yet free mods I could do, to get some more *** out of it, esp. down low? Thanks guys!

You know what, my '02 M6 Z28 with a couple simple bolt-ons just doesn't feel that fast either around town(very, very smooth IMO). But don't let that fool you, 'cause it is every bit as fast(if not faster) on the streets(0-60) than the LT1 stock for stock or mod for mod. After that, the LS1 just OWNZ on the highway or at the dragstrip.

With an M6, you basically have to be in your powerband at all times when going WOT, or it won't really feel that strong. If you want that low-end torque multiplication, definitely get 4.10 gears. Best SOTP mod you can do in an M6 and they will really, really wake up your car around town. Just make sure to not do any hard launches with them at the dragstrip or your gonna need a new rear-end soon.

Thumbs up

Welcome!

I also migrated from LT1 to LS1 (had a V6 in between, though...) and I couldn't be happier.

The low end feels less powerful than on the LT1, but I am pretty sure it is just SOTP, not much else.

Mine is still stock, except for K&N filter (which some people will claim is not worth anything...) and Flowmaster muffler.

Flow Tech cutout is on its way and MPP2 electric blade for it and an aftermarket lid going to be in before the end of the summer.

I know the 99 is faster all over, but why does the 95 FEEL so much faster? Looking at the speedo over elapsed time tells all, but still?

I can't wait to swap my suspension stuff over, plus I can lower this one a little. My 95, even though its a 'vert, handles a lot better.

the reason the LT1 feels faster is because the LT1 torque peak is around 2400 rpm as opposed to a much higher (like 4000ish) rpm peak in the LS1. In addition the LS1 is smoother so u dont notice how fast ur actually accelerating....the LT1 pulls like a monster down low but then dies out after 52-5400 rpm so the "SOTP" down low torque feels more accentuated. The LS1 still makes over 300 ft lbs down low but continues pull (even harder) up top so u never notice a difference....
