Exclamation Interior Lights?

I've wanted to ask this for awhile. My 99z with t-tops, doesn't have interior lights. But it has map lights on the rear view mirror. There is a button cap where I would think the light would go. Also I have a switch for the light. So my questions are.

1. Does anyone have it the same way?

2. Would there be a wiring harness under my lining?

Thanks

Question

You don't have an interior light in the back near the top of the back hatch?? (over top of the backseat?) Is that where you're saying it looks like there should be a light, but isn't?? Otherwise............................... ...sorry I can't offer more help.

Having no rear lamp is very odd. But my car has the same little plastic cap you speak of. GM claims it holds the headliner in. I dont buy it cause not all cars have it.

My car has all of the things described...
Lights in the mirror of course
Headliner retainer in the center of the roof
Lamp over the rear seat

To my knowledge your car should be this way too. Take a hard look over the rear seat near the hatch, the light is not obvious unless you look for it. I bet you have it.

Boy do I feel stupid. I found it. With a busted bulb inside. Got a new bulb, And it stays on all the time. I found out that my map lights are supposed to come on with the doors and hatch or interior switch. No Dice. Any suggestions?

Your rear interior light stays on? Don't know about that, but check your rear view mirror. It has a harness in the back, maybe its just loose or not even connected. If not that then maybe the map lights went out or check your fuses. Hope that helps.

This is the b**** of it. The map lights work with the switchs on the mirror but don't come on with anything else. And of course the back light.
