Installed shifter yesterday, noises? clutch/flywheel??

I installed my B&M Ripper shifter yesterday, and now, with the windows up driving down the road, theres a sound thats something like kheeeeeeeeeeeh. Its like a buzz/hum that happens while at a steady speed. Also, when i'm stopped, if i rev it a little, and let out the clutch in neutral, it makes like a buzzing sound. You cant hear it with the windows down or outside the car though.
Could this have ANYTHING to do with my new shifter? It seems kinda outlandish that it would be related though. I only have 22,000 miles.
Any ideas? I'd like to stay away from the dealer for a while. I know those people by name now for other things being replaced. Sheesh.

Hmmm, i'd like that to be close to a last resort, being as i would rather not have to keep taking the console apart.
Maybe I just never noticed the chattering when letting the clutch out in neutral. Are the factory clutches kind of chattery? Or is something wrong? If its normal, i can overlook it, but i dont want the clutch to fall apart driving down the road.

Pro 5.0 or the ripper do not have as much insulation as the stock shifter so you will hear more noises then with a stock shifter, and yes I have the ripper and it does buzz and wine a little, even with a new tranny.

pr0 5.0 is way louder...i had it and now have bm ripper and its silent compared to 5.0

it only takes about 15 mins to take apart the console....you dont have to even take it off just move it around

but it doesnt sound bad so it should be fine

SWEET your not the only one, I have the same problem, I guess its because of the material the shifter is made of, I have the same one and that damn sound is part of the assembly. I have had for about 6500 miles and the sound is still there and the car still runs fine with no problems. Great shifter though....

Later,
Chris

So when i let out the clutch and it makes the buzzing chattering noise, thats normal? It just comes thru the shifter? I just wanna be sure that sound is normal, because it does it in neutral after you let off the clutch.

I had the same problem. Did you seal it? What I did to tone the sound down for a little while was grab a small towel (like a cheesey hotel towel) and wrap it around under the fake leather boot before putting on the center console.

All I did was use gasket sealer or whatever around it before i bolted it down, like the directions said. But what i think i'm gonna try this weekend is i'm gonna make an actual gasket and try that, isntead of just the sealer stuff.
I'm not complaining too much though, because the shifter is absolutely awesome! I just want to know sure the sounds i'm hearing is coming from the shifter and not the clutch.

It is normal, the vibration and noises from the transmission are resonating up the shifter. you dont hear it on the stock shifter because the shifter stalk is bolted to rubber, and the rubber is bolted to the actual shifter mechanism. I heard the same noises when i installed lou's short stick. I put the stock shifter back on and the chattering/grinding went away.

its because the ripper is one chunk of metal. the stock shifter has a rubber bushing between the shifter and the stick. i just about went crazy thinking i jacked something up when i first installed mine. one funny thing that i found is that the shift **** has alot to do with the sound too. take it around the block with no ****, its much less noisy.

And 1badLS1M6 nice car .. you got leather
