installation price!?!?
installation price!?!?
I bought my tips and my dynomax muffler. Went to Meineke and I got an estimate 270 to install with fabricating the y pipe. I was told by a couple members 100 to 150 is a good deal. Somehow, this doesnt seem to add up. I went to alot of other places but they couldnt get the job done so they just told me it sounded about right to them. Another thing is the y pipe is after the cats so i can't have an offroad one. Im confused am I getting ripped off or what hear? I know they need to cut out the muffler and out. They will weld on the dynomax racing muffler, fab a y pipe over the axle to retain dual exhaust, and weld the tips out the back. He told me it would take 2 hours and the price was 270? Whats up?
270 is way too much. A good shop that will do a spectacular job for like 125-150 tops. Keep looking around. You might be suprised how good a job the little old-town shops do. You know, the little ones that have been around for 40 years. They usually have good prices too.
Stay away from the chain stores. They just want to slap on your everyday run-of-the-mill parts.
Start hitting the mom and pop shops and you'll find two things:
(1) they know what they are doing
(2) their prices are better
Oh, and it usually helps if they know you're paying cash

I went around all day today and I talked to a few people. They told me the free flow can exhaust is better flowing and sounds better. I told them that alot of people I have spoken with love a bullet muffler which is used in loud, dynomouth. Is it true that there wont be an equal flow from both sides? They also said im looking at only a gain of 10hp, is that true? What about the cats while im getting this done can i drop them or should i buy high flow ones? What would be the best bet with the cats if i were to go the dynomouth route? Everyday its something else.
INSTALL IT YOURSELF...It's easy! However, use an impact wrench to tighten down the clamps or you'll get rattles. After I installed mine I took it down to Midas and had them tighten everything up with the impact wrench and weld a hanger for me and he did it for $10 because he liked my car
. Make sure you get the guy with all the tattoos and long hair...they always like F-Bodies lol.

Meinake , I guess that is how you spell it, only charged me 70 to put on my loudmuth welded and every thing. They got a kick out of that. The tips looked perfectly aligned when i left but a couple of days later one side had fallen a little. I took it back up there and he welded up some special hangers for free. Those puppies wont even giggle now. I could probally jack the back of the car up with the tail pipes if I wanted........Nah.
The left side fell because he didn't tighten down the clamp in the middle enough. That can be solved with an impact wrench pretty easily. I hand tightened mine and it hasn't moved at all. I used to get all the work done on my Camaro at Meineke. They do a good job if you know the owner
